Ken Warkentin is the Executive Director of Valley Center for the Blind, a leading California agency providing services to the visually impaired community for the purpose of increasing opportunities and independence skills. Ken was born in Fresno, CA where he lived until age 7 when his family moved back to their native British Columbia. In 1983, Ken returned to Fresno after completing one year of Bible College at Christ for the Nations (CFNI) in Dallas, Texas. At that time, he partnered with his father Hank in the business of selling and manufacturing automotive seat covers. It was in this small business which Ken dedicated most of his professional career before joining Valley Center for the Blind in August of 2011, first as a board member and then to later be appointed to Executive Director. He and wife Lisa were introduced to the struggles of the blind community when one of his four daughters, Shaela, lost her eyesight due to an automobile accident on March 8th, 2011. Utilizing 27 years of business experience and new found passion and appreciation for the challenges of blindness, Ken was able to work together with the VCB Board of Directors to rebuild a struggling agency into a beacon of hope for those with vision loss.
